18-year-old shot, killed during house party at an Elk Grove Airbnb

An 18-year-old is dead after a shooting at a house party at an Airbnb in Elk Grove, according to authorities.The shooting happened in the area of Bowmont Way and Brandamore Court at around 2 a.m, the Elk Grove Police Department said in a release. Officers found the man inside the home and started life-saving measures. He died at the scene, according to police.Investigators say the home was an Airbnb rental being used as a site for a party with about 10 to 15 people. Most people were gone by the time police arrived, authorities said.Airbnb released the following statement:”We are deeply saddened by the events that took place here last night. Airbnb bans parties and we take these reports very seriously and have opened an investigation. We are supporting the host and are in touch with the Elk Grove Police Department to support their investigation.”Airbnb also said the listing has been deactivated from its site as the investigation continues. The booking guests account has also been removed. A suspect has not been identified and it’s unclear what led up to the shooting. Anyone with information regarding the investigation is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Communication Center (916) 714-5115 or Crime Stoppers at (916) 443-HELP (4357). Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.00.
