Broncos Herbie Farnworth contract extension, Dolphins, Wayne Bennett

Broncos centre Herbie Farnworth has shut the door on the Dolphins in agreeing to a one-year extension to remain with Brisbane, according to Nine’s Ben Dobbin.

Dobbin had revealed earlier this year that Farnworth was being chased by at least five other NRL clubs, including the Dolphins.

The signing couldn’t come at a better time for the Broncos, who find themselves back in the top eight and firming for finals football after missing out the previous two seasons.

Farnworth, who’s played 51 games for the Broncos, has cemented himself as one of the club’s most damaging outside backs.

Through 10 games in 2022, he has seven tries to his name.

The Dolphins will enter the competition next season under legendary coach Wayne Bennett.

In recent weeks, the Dolphins have signed several attacking players including Knights winger Edrick Lee on a two-year deal, as well as Robert Jennings from the Panthers.

The Dolphins have also been particularly interested in Storm players.

Brothers Jesse and Kenny Bromwich, as well as State of Origin back-rower Felise Kaufusi, have all signed deals with the club from next season.
