Adam Reynolds never thought he would be booed by the famous South Sydney burrow.
By full time at Accor Stadium on Thursday night the little general had broken their hearts, but earned their admiration at the same time.
The love he earned by steering the cardinal and myrtle to the 2014 NRL premiership was briefly pocketed when Reynolds ran out wearing Broncos colours, despite being “home” in Sydney.

He was booed by the same fans who had only ever cheered for him. As he lined up for a sideline conversion his thoughts were drowned out by the noise from the other side of the fence.
But it was Reynolds who held his nerve and guided underdog Brisbane to a 32-12 round nine victory.
The Rabbitohs were no match for his smarts and guile as his Broncos won their third game in a row.
It was the first time in his NRL career Reynolds had played against South Sydney, having missed their round one clash due to injury.

“It’s mixed feelings – I have a lot of mates in that team, still have a lot of great relationships there,” Reynolds told Nine after the game.
“I didn’t know what it was going to feel like until I ran out. I’m glad it’s over and done now, I’ll pop into the sheds and have a beer with the boys.”
The Broncos have won three on the trot and suddenly a finals appearance this season doesn’t look ridiculous one bit.

Making Thursday’s victory all the more impressive was the fact representative forwards Payne Haas and Kurt Capewell were absent.
“This is a great win, a great win by the Broncos,” Phil Gould told Nine.
“A terrific victory away from home.”
Cameron Smith agreed.
Walker, Walters go toe to toe
“A great win for the Broncos. It’s been a brave effort,” he said.
“A lot of the talk in the lead-up was about the men who aren’t here tonight… but these young Broncos players, they play with a lot of confidence, a lot of energy.”
The Broncos take on Manly in next week’s Magic Round, while South Sydney faces the Warriors.
