Sac Fire Dept. lifejacket program allows families to checkout vests as needed

The Sacramento Fire Department is urging families to be safe this summer out on the water by providing life jackets to those who need them.“We want to make sure people are safe,” said Sacramento Fire Battalion Chief Dave Lauchner. “You can come on your way out to the river or the lake and just borrow life jackets for the day for you and your family.” Residents can borrow life jackets for the day or weekend at no cost at the following stations:Station 1 — 324 Q St.Station 5 — 731 BroadwayStation 8 — 5990 H St.Station 11 — 785 Florin RoadStation 15 — 1640 West El Camino Ave.Station 60 — 3301 Julliard Dr.“Our biggest concern is that we want you safe on the water,” Lauchner said.To check out a lifejacket, individuals need to provide their name and contact information. Multiple sizes are also available.
