Oleg Ustenko, economic adviser to Volodymyr Zelensky, said that about $1 trillion would be needed to restore the Ukrainian economy and infrastructure, which is equal to five of the country’s GDP.
“Since $650 billion are only direct losses to Ukraine due to the conflict, and if indirect damage is added to this figure, the figure will increase to $1 trillion. We need these sums,” Ustenko said on the air of the Espreso TV channel on Wednesday.
According to him, this amount is equal to five annual GDP of the country, compared with last year’s dollar GDP, which reached a historic high of almost $200 billion.
He clarified that Ukraine receives about $5 billion in grants every month, despite the fact that capital borrowing markets are now closed for the country.
